1. What is waffle?

A waffle is a type of dish made from leavened batter or dough that is cooked between two plates to give it a distinctive grid-like appearance. Waffles are typically cooked in a waffle iron, a metal utensil with two hinged plates that are patterned to produce a characteristic grid or honeycomb pattern on the waffle.

The batter used for making waffles usually contains flour, eggs, sugar, and baking powder or baking soda. Some variations may include ingredients like milk, butter, or vanilla extract to enhance the flavor. Waffles can be sweet or savory, depending on the toppings and ingredients used. Common toppings include syrup, whipped cream, fruits, ice cream, or even savory items like fried chicken.

Waffles are popular in various cuisines around the world and are enjoyed as a breakfast item or a dessert. They come in different shapes and sizes, and the texture can range from crispy to soft, depending on personal preferences and regional variations.
